Where the CO₂ comes from
Commercial CO₂ is a captured byproduct of existing industrial processes — primarily ammonia and ethanol production, plus natural gas processing. That CO₂ would be released regardless. Using it as blasting media gives it a second use before it enters the atmosphere; it does not create new emissions from a dedicated source.
The honest caveat
The CO₂ does end up in the atmosphere after blasting — it is not sequestered. The correct claim is that the process adds no new CO₂ generation, not that it is carbon-negative. Anyone telling you dry ice blasting removes carbon from the atmosphere is overselling it.
