Dry Ice Blasting for Breweries, Distilleries, and Beverage Plants

Beer stone, yeast residue, syrup, and biofilm build up where water-based cleaning cannot reach. Dry ice blasting cleans production areas dry, with no chemical residue.

Beverage production is a wet environment already, which is exactly why adding more water to clean it is a problem. Standing moisture feeds biofilm and mold, and hosing down electrical and packaging equipment causes as many failures as it prevents.

Applications

  • Fillers, cappers, and rinser frames
  • Conveyor chains, rails, and drive units
  • Labelers with glue and adhesive buildup
  • Tank exteriors, catwalks, and platform steel
  • Keg washers and racking equipment
  • Ceiling steel, cable trays, and overhead surfaces where mold appears first

Adhesive on labelers

Hot-melt and casein glue buildup on labeler drums, pallets, and gluing stations is one of the highest-value dry ice targets in a beverage plant. It removes cleanly without solvent soaking and without the scraping that scores the drum surface.

Sanitation program fit

Dry ice blasting is a deep-clean step, not a replacement for CIP or daily sanitation. It is best scheduled during changeovers and monthly or quarterly sanitation windows to reset the buildup that daily washdown never removes — overhead steel, drive housings, and frame interiors. Follow it with your normal sanitizer application on food-contact surfaces.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it safe around open product?+

No cleaning method should run over open product. Lines are cleared and contained before blasting, then sanitized per your SSOP.

Does it kill mold and bacteria?+

It physically removes biofilm and mold but is not a sanitizer. Apply your approved chemical sanitizer afterward.

Can it be done without shutting down the plant?+

Individual lines and zones are isolated while the rest of the facility runs, with containment in place.
